Services

We plan to have a memorial service for mom at Lake Fork Baptist Church on Sunday, October 26 at 2:00 p.m. We invite you all to come and rejoice in the life that was mom. Dress is casual because mom would want you comfortable, so wear your jeans.

We respectfully request no flowers or food. If you would like to help, you can donate to my mother’s memorial fund, or donate to pancreatic cancer research at the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, http://www.pancan.org

May the Lord bless you and keep you until we meet…Shelly

We are so sorry to hear of Sherry’s passing. Please let us know if you would like us to send you purple ribbons for her service. Our deepest condolences to the entire family. . .

Sherry will be remembered as a little humming bird to me - so dainty and full of life - smiling even when times were tough. She always put Bill and her family first asking for prayers for them. But I know she is with her heavenly father now and full of life and energy - no more pain or suffering. Sherry is a sweet heart.

Shelly, We are so sorry your mother suffered so. Sherry was very kind to my husband and me. She visited us when my husband was in the hospital and I know she felt worse than he did. She was definately an inspiration to all who knew her. God bless you, Bill, and your family.

    Hi Shelly,

I’ve continued to hold you and your mom in my thoughts since you first shared on the forum about your mom’s diagnosis. I walked this road as well - with my dad - and related so much to your online diary of these last days. Now that she’s made the transition, I continue to send my thoughts and prayers for you as you begin this next chapter.

What an awesome daughter you’ve been to an obviously amazing mom!

Thank you so much Chana. I thought of you too as we went through this and knew it would be a harsh reminder of your own loss. Your support early on, and many thoughts and prayers mean a lot to me. Thanks again.

Shelly — I just wanted to tell you how wonderful your mother’s memorial service was. It was perfect and she would have been so very pleased.

“I Can Only Imagine” was done at my father’s funeral eight years ago this week. It makes me cry (but in a good way) everytime I hear it. You, Bill, your mom’s bible study sisters, and the pastor all did an excellent job speaking. Again… Sherry would have been proud of each one of you.

May God comfort you and bless you over the next many months and years ahead.

P.S. You look so much like your mother. But I’m sure you’ve heard that before. :)

Shelly, we were unable to attend the Memorial service as we were on our way home from a week of fishing at Lake Amistad. Knowing your mom, she would say,” oh no, if the fish are biting, don’t leave.” We caught quite a few and know she was saying”good job.” Sherry was a fine lady and definitely made fishing a greater sport. She was quite a gal. I remember how she told us that Bill took her fishing in a pontoon boat and I believe it was on their honeymoon and she got the bug for fishing. I can remember how she drove back and forth and finally moved over here while bill stayed behind until one of you girls got out of high school.
I remember she and her dog lived in a trailor that was so small you could almost turn around in. She loved that german shepard with all her heart. She studied this lake and talked to everybody and learned fast.
She was in the Lake Fork Lady Anglers bass club when i met her. I can still see her go by our dock, never seemed like she ever idled her boat, she was always on plane or not moving at all. And always always proud of you kids. You all have wonderful memories of your mom to share and smile at all of them.
