Bye Mom

Friday, October 17 at 8:55 a.m. my mother took a trip home. She passed quickly, with rapid breath. I envision her running to her maker with child-like glee. Smiling, and full of excitement over this next adventure.

Some may say that the cancer beat her, but I would whole-heartedly disagree. She won. She won the battle by returning home whole. She wins this time again, and the cancer will be left behind. That’s not a loss. She fought the good fight, she won the race. Victory is hers, in Jesus.

May the saints rejoice at her return.

I love you momma.

The angels are rejoicing! Your mother is also rejoicing in the presence of God! Of course you will miss her but not like those who don’t have this Hope. What a wonderful testimony of God’s grace she has given us.
I love your beautiful, thoughtful, sometimes sad entries. So true of life. My husband has PC with liver mets. He doesn’t even know what kind of cancer he has. He says it doesn’t matter because he doesn’t feel like he has cancer.
We live in Bryan, TX. My brother fished many times in Lake Fork and loved singing southern gospel music. Bet they will be swapping fishing stories.

God’s continued blessing on you and Bill.

Such news is saddening, but such is life, none of of us get out alive.

Sherry lived a wonderful life, full of friends and family and I’m sure not without the ups and downs of real life either. But such is some of the stuff that makes us what we are or will become. Sherry became a legacy!

I’m so very sorry for your loss.

Sorrow is reserved for those of us that remain, but real victory is attained by celebrating her life. I will celebrate her life as such, knowing I knew this most wonderful person that shared with me.

Life is makin memories! I’ve many with Sherry and every one is a good one.

Many folks will miss and remember Sherry. Be happy her suffering is over, even if we feel her time on earth was too short, which it was, she is at rest.

Our warmest regards are extended to the entire family.

I have had the honor to know Sherry through tournament fishing and as a fellow guide. She was truly a great sportswoman, whom I admired and respected. She lived her life to the fullest and I think that is very important. I really miss seeing her boat on the water. My deepest sympathy goes out to all her family and I will continue to pray for you all.

There is comfort in knowing that Sherry is with her maker now and at peace. I will always remember her. She was in Bass Heaven on earth, now she is in God’s Bass Heaven.

    May God Bless you all,

    Barbara Stevenson

I am so sorry to hear of Sherry’s passing. I used to be the secretary at Lake Fork Baptist Church and Sherry was one of my favorite people. She always greeted me with a big smile and hug, whether I saw her at the church or at the post office in Yantis.

When I think of Sherry I think of the love that flowed so effortlessly from her heart to everyone around her. She brightened my day on many occasions with those hugs.

    She will truly be missed.

I understand some of the things you are going through, I lost my mom to cancer in 2005.

My prayers are with you and your family.

I loved Sherry like a mom. Her and Bill took Robert and me under their wings and helped us through some tough times. I will miss her dearly but I know that her pain and suffering has ended. God blessed me by bringing her into my life and for that, I will always be grateful.

Every time I see a hummingbird, I will think of her. She had a strong spirit and wasn’t afraid to live life.

Shelly, You did a beautiful job on this and thank you for giving us the opportunity to share our comments. God bless you!

    Sherry will be forever missed!

  9. Toodie Maxwell Says:

May God put his arms around you and comfort you in this time of sorrow. Sherry will definitely be missed by all of us that knew and loved her.

I met Sherry back in 1995 when we opened our restaurant (Maxwell’s) on Lake Fork. We hit it off and have been friends ever since then. We closed our place but that didn’t end our friendship. We may not have seen each other a lot over the past few years but we did get to enjoy fellowship at a class at Lake Fork Baptist Church last year. I am so very thankful for that opportunity.

You will always be in my heart Sherry! I know that you are at peace now.

I met Sherry about 5yrs ago when I bought her RV, and I was inspired by her stories of her life! Over time I called her mom and she did not mind it at all. As Sherry got sick I struggled to face her, it tore me up to see her that way and I know how much pride she took in being a strong women and that is how I wanted to remember her!

I will miss seeing her walking her dog, showing up at events and sending me emails.

I love you Sherry and I know that your sprit will always be around us at the lake.

I am sorry about the loss of your mother. All who knew her will miss Sherry. She has made a huge impact on my life. A few months ago, Sherry came in my office at HCMH and told me how she loved to help people. She told me a story of how one day while she was at a doctor’s office there was a woman holding a small child crying. The woman had owed a small amount at the doctor’s office and did not have any money to pay for the owed amount nor for her sick child to be seen by the doctor. Sherry walked up and asked the woman how much do you owe. The woman told her and Sherry paid for it. Some people would have disregarded the woman in need of help but Sherry did not. Sherry also told me other stories of how she has helped people. She has inspired me more than anyone can know. I know that Sherry was an Angel while here on earth and now she sits up in heaven with all of the other angels. I will continue to pray for you, Bill and the rest of the family.

    With love,
    Allison Paulson

    Aunt Sherry,
I will always love and miss you I am so glad for the memories that I have fishing with you and the gals. I know you and Ma are looking down on each and everyone of us right now and I know that yall are with Lisa, Shelly, Warren and Bill right at this very moment. And I know you are dancing on those streets of gold Ma always told us about. I can bet you saw Ma waiting at those pearly gates for you to enter so yall could be together again.
I love you so very much and we will all miss you.
